About three weeks before Tobias was born, I contacted Sally to say that if he was a little girl, we were probably going to call him Hope. Sally responded with such grace and generous spirit. It didn't register with me then but we already knew the date our baby was coming - Tuesday 19th January.
Toby, obviously, was a boy. I cannot envisage it (nor would I want it) any other way. And it is right and proper that a very, very special little girl remains, uniquely, Tuesday's Hope.
Sally - because the 19th is significant to me too, now - I think about you and Hope around this time every month. But especially today.
Happy 2nd birthday, Hope Angel.
